Choose the right purpose for the message
Decide whether the message is meant to inform, apologize, ask, support, or close a practical loop. For a message about how to resolve a family inheritance conflict, use this factual base: separate the event, money, care, decision, or promise from judgments about loyalty and character.
Use detail that helps a decision
Include the smallest set of details that lets the recipient understand the impact and choose a response. Ask each person for their understanding and propose a documented next step or neutral conversation. Make the immediate next step clear enough that the recipient can answer without reconstructing the entire history.
Know what the message cannot achieve
Do not use children, illness, holidays, or relatives as leverage and do not circulate private messages. Use mediation, legal, safeguarding, domestic abuse, or emergency support when power or safety makes direct discussion inappropriate. The message can offer clarity, but it cannot guarantee forgiveness, agreement, attention, or renewed contact.
