Write from facts rather than momentum
Pause long enough to remove accusations, assumptions, and details that belong to someone else. For a message about how to discuss an unfair division of household chores, use this factual base: name the current pattern, concrete impact, and decision that needs both partners' attention.
Offer a proportionate next step
Match the size of the request to the relationship and to what the recipient can reasonably decide now. Ask for a time and format to discuss one issue, then identify any outside support that could help. Make the immediate next step clear enough that the recipient can answer without reconstructing the entire history.
Protect privacy on both sides
Do not threaten abandonment, use intimacy as leverage, or demand an answer during an unsafe or heated moment. Use specialist domestic abuse or emergency support when coercion, violence, stalking, or immediate danger is present. Use the most private legitimate channel available and do not share the exchange to recruit support or pressure.
